Nevertheless, it unfortunately happens more than once that it takes a very long time for the paying party to fulfil its duty. But what do you actually do if your invoice is not paid at all? How can you best request the customer to pay the invoice in a friendly but urgent manner? We will give you some tips in this blog!<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-top: 30px;\">Step 1: send a first reminder<\/h2>\n<p>Has the payment term of your sent invoice passed, but have you not yet received your money? The first step you can take in such a case is to send a short e-mail. Of course, the customer may have overlooked the invoice due to certain circumstances &#8211; that can happen to the best of us. Therefore, in this first payment reminder, keep it friendly at all times. By drafting a short, friendly e-mail, in which you ask in a neutral tone to pay the invoice as soon as possible, you offer the customer the opportunity to correct his or her mistake. We recommend using a 7-day payment term in this first reminder e-mail.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-top: 30px;\">Step 2: get in touch by phone<\/h2>\n<p>If the 7-day payment term from the first payment reminder has also expired, but the invoice has still not been paid. Then we recommend contacting the customer by phone this time. Despite the fact that it can of course be very frustrating that payment is taking so long, we advise you to remain polite at all times during this conversation. By entering the conversation in a friendly manner, you increase the chances of the invoice being paid quickly. During the conversation, ask why the invoice is taking so long to be paid. At the conclusion of the phone call, we recommend making a payment appointment again with a deadline of 7 days.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-top: 30px;\">Step 3: send a second reminder<\/h2>\n<p>If payment is still not made after the telephone contact, it is time to send a final payment reminder. You can send this reminder by e-mail, but you can also choose to send an official reminder by post. Clearly state in the reminder which specific invoice it concerns and when it should have been paid, to nip confusion in the bud. Always remain polite in the reminder, but do state clearly that further steps will be taken if payment is still delayed. What is the next step in this? Engaging a collection agency.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-top: 30px;\">Step: 4 involve a collection agency<\/h2>\n<p>If your various payment reminders via e-mail and phone have not helped, it is time for the last resort: using a collection agency. Be careful here: the costs for these collection agencies can vary from one agency to another. Collection agencies often work on a &#8216;no cure, no pay&#8217; basis. This means that the agency is only paid if a solution to the unpaid invoice is actually found. However, this is not the case with every agency. So be careful here, otherwise the costs for the collection agency can be high.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-top: 30px;\">Step 5: take legal action<\/h2>\n<p>Are you unable to reach a settlement with the customer even with the help of a collection agency? Then unfortunately there is nothing else you can do but go to court. For this, it is important that you have business legal expenses insurance so that you can hire a lawyer.<\/p>\n<p>After this, the customer will receive a summons, which you will use to take the customer to court. In this summons, you will specifically state the amount to be paid and provide proof of what you are taking the customer to court for, including the previous steps you have taken in this regard.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-top: 30px;\">How do you avoid non-payment of your invoice?<\/h2>\n<p>If you often have to wait a long time for payment of sent invoices or if they are not paid at all, in most cases this is beyond your control. Nevertheless, there are a number of things you can do yourself to prevent your invoice from not being paid.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"padding-top: 30px;\">Improve your own invoicing process<\/h3>\n<p>Are you usually waiting a long time for your invoices to be paid? Then it is a good idea to take a look at your own invoicing process. Take a close look at your invoices, for instance. How do they look? Are they clear enough? Communication with the customer is also very important. How does that work? Is there anything you can improve? If you have optimised your own invoicing process to perfection, you will see that future payments will be made faster. Yet of course, this is not entirely up to you. This is because usually the problem is not on your side, but on the side of the paying party. At such a time, is there nothing more you can do on your side to receive the money from the relevant invoices and thus <a href=\"\/en\/news\/how-to-improve-your-working-capital\/\">improve working capital<\/a>? Yes, there is: factoring, for example.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"padding-top: 30px;\">Factoring<\/h3>\n<p>Do you increasingly find yourself waiting a long time for a customer to pay his or her invoice? In such a case, factoring offers the solution for your situation. But <a href=\"\/en\/news\/what-is-factoring\/\">what is factoring<\/a> and how does factoring actually work?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/en\/factoring\/\">Factoring<\/a> is all about <a href=\"\/en\/sell-invoice\/\">selling invoices<\/a> to a factor, which then advances the corresponding amount. This <a href=\"\/en\/news\/alternative-forms-of-financing\/\">alternative financing method<\/a> is increasingly used among more and more entrepreneurs. Toch komt het helaas meer dan eens voor dat het erg lang duurt voordat de betalende partij zijn plicht voldoet. Maar wat doe je eigenlijk als je factuur helemaal niet wordt betaald? Hoe kun je het beste <a href=\"https:\/\/www.factris.com\/nl\/nieuws\/hoe-om-te-gaan-met-wanbetalers\/\">omgaan met wanbetalers<\/a>? En op welke manier kun je de klant nou zo goed mogelijk op een vriendelijke, maar dringende manier verzoeken om de factuur te betalen? We geven je een aantal tips in deze blog!\n\n&nbsp;\n<h2>Stap 1: stuur een eerste herinnering<\/h2>\nIs de betaaltermijn van jouw verzonden factuur inmiddels verstreken, maar heb jij je geld nog niet ontvangen? De eerste stap die je in zo\u2019n geval kunt zetten is het versturen van een korte e-mail. Het kan natuurlijk zo zijn dat de klant de factuur door bepaalde omstandigheden over het hoofd heeft gezien - dat kan de beste overkomen. Hou het in deze eerste betalingsherinnering dan ook te allen tijde vriendelijk. Door een korte, vriendelijke mail op te stellen, waarin je op een neutrale toon vraagt om de factuur zo spoedig mogelijk te betalen, bied je de klant de mogelijkheid om zijn of haar fout te herstellen. We raden aan om in deze eerste herinneringsmail een betaaltermijn van 7 dagen te hanteren.\n\n&nbsp;\n<h2>Stap 2: neem telefonisch contact op<\/h2>\nIs ook de betaaltermijn van 7 dagen uit de eerste betalingsherinnering verstreken, maar is de factuur nog steeds niet betaald. Dan raden we aan om ditmaal telefonisch contact met de klant op te nemen. Ondanks het feit dat het natuurlijk erg frustrerend kan zijn dat de betaling zo lang op zich laat wachten, adviseren we om ook tijdens dit gesprek te allen tijde beleefd te blijven. Door op een vriendelijke manier het gesprek in te gaan, vergroot je de kans dat de factuur snel betaald wordt. Vraag tijdens het gesprek waarom het betalen van de factuur zo lang op zich laat wachten. Bij het afsluiten van het telefoongesprek raden we aan om opnieuw een betaalafspraak te maken met een termijn van 7 dagen.\n\n&nbsp;\n<h2>Stap 3: stuur een tweede herinnering (aanmaning)<\/h2>\nMocht de betaling ook na het telefonische contact uitblijven, wordt het tijd om een laatste betalingsherinnering (aanmaning) te sturen. Je kunt deze aanmaning per mail versturen, maar je kunt kiezen om hierbij een offici\u00eble aanmaning per post te verzenden. Geef in de aanmaning duidelijk aan om welke specifieke factuur het gaat en wanneer deze betaald had moeten zijn, om hierin verwarring in de kiem te smoren. Blijf ook in de aanmaning altijd beleefd, maar geef wel duidelijk aan dat er verdere stappen ondernomen zullen worden als de betaling nog langer op zich laat wachten. Wat hierin de eerstvolgende stap is? Het inschakelen van een incassobureau.\n\n&nbsp;\n<h2>Stap: 4 schakel een incassobureau in<\/h2>\nAls jouw verschillende betalingsherinneringen via de mail en telefoon geen baat hebben gehad, wordt het tijd voor het laatste redmiddel: het inschakelen van een incassobureau. Let hierbij wel op: de kosten voor deze incassobureaus kunnen per bureau verschillen. Vaak wordt er door incassobureaus gewerkt op basis van \u2018no cure, no pay\u2019. Dit houdt in dat het bureau pas betaald wordt, als er daadwerkelijk een oplossing voor de niet-betaalde factuur wordt gevonden. Dit is echter niet bij elk bureau het geval. Let hierbij dus goed op, anders kunnen de kosten voor het incassobureau hoog oplopen.\n\n&nbsp;\n<h2>Stap 5: onderneem juridische stappen<\/h2>\nKom je er ook met behulp van een incassobureau niet met de klant uit? Dan zit er helaas niets anders op dan naar de rechter te stappen. Hiervoor is het voor belang dat je een zakelijke rechtsbijstandverzekering hebt, om op deze manier een advocaat in te kunnen huren.\n\nHierna zal de klant een dagvaarding ontvangen, waarmee je de klant voor de rechter daagt. In deze dagvaarding staat specifiek vermeld om welk te betalen bedrag het gaat en lever je bewijs voor hetgeen waarvoor je de klant voor de rechter daagt, inclusief de eerder genomen stappen die je hierbij hebt ondernomen.\n\n&nbsp;\n<h2>Hoe voorkom je dat jouw factuur niet wordt betaald?<\/h2>\nWanneer je vaak lang op de betaling van verzonden facturen zit te wachten of wanneer deze zelfs helemaal niet worden betaald, ligt dit in de meeste gevallen buiten jouw eigen macht. Toch kun je zelf ook een aantal dingen ondernemen om te voorkomen dat jouw factuur niet wordt betaald.\n\n&nbsp;\n<h3>Verbeteren van het eigen facturatieproces<\/h3>\nZit jij meestal lang te wachten tot jouw facturen betaald worden. Dan is het goed om eens te kijken naar jouw eigen facturatieproces. Neem hierbij bijvoorbeeld de facturen eens goed onder de loep. Hoe zien deze eruit? Zijn ze eigenlijk wel duidelijk genoeg Ook de communicatie met de klant is hierin erg belangrijk. Hoe verloopt dat eigenlijk? Kun je daar nog aspecten in verbeteren? Wanneer je je eigen facturatieproces tot in de puntjes hebt geoptimaliseerd, zul je zien dat toekomstige betalingen sneller gedaan zullen worden. Toch heb je dit natuurlijk niet helemaal zelf in de hand. Meestal ligt het probleem namelijk niet aan jouw kant, maar aan de kant van de betalende partij. Is er op zo\u2019n moment dan helemaal niets meer dat jij aan jouw kant kan doen om het geld van de desbetreffende facturen te ontvangen en zo het <a href=\"\/nl\/nieuws\/werkkapitaal-verbeteren\/\">werkkapitaal te verbeteren<\/a>? Jawel, met <a href=\"\/nl\/factoring\/\">factoring<\/a>, bijvoorbeeld.\n\n&nbsp;\n<h3>Factoring<\/h3>\nZit jij steeds vaker lang te wachten tot een klant zijn of haar factuur betaal? Deze alternatieve financieringswijze wordt onder steeds meer ondernemers steeds meer gebruikt.
