What is DSO?<\/h2>\n

DSO is an important financial measure that indicates how long, on average, it takes your business to receive payments for the sale of products or services. In other words, it measures the time that elapses between the moment of sale and when payment is actually received. A low DSO indicates that your customers generally pay quickly, which has positive implications for your cash flow and liquidity<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Why is DSO important?<\/h2>\n

Efficient cash flow is vital to the success of any business. The faster your outstanding invoices<\/a><\/span> are paid, the more financial room you have to invest in growth, cover operational costs, and seize opportunities. A high DSO can indicate problems such as slow payments, inadequate accounts receivable management<\/a><\/span>, or even financial difficulties with your customers.<\/p>\n

How do you calculate DSO?<\/h2>\n

Calculating DSO is quite simple. Follow these steps:<\/p>\n

Determine your average debtor balance; this is the total amount of outstanding invoices over a given period, e.g. a month.<\/p>\n

Divide the average debtor balance by turnover. This gives you the average DSO. You do this the following way: (average debtor balance\/total turnover) x number of days in the period.<\/p>\n

For example, if your average accounts receivable balance over a month is \u20ac10,000, your total turnover in that month is \u20ac50,000, and there are 30 days in that month, then your DSO is: (\u20ac10,000 \/ \u20ac50,000) x 30 = 6 days.<\/p>\n

DSO and Factoring<\/h2>\n

Factoring is a financing option where a company sells its outstanding invoices to a factoring company – in this case, Factris – after which you are paid the value of the invoice at short notice. This allows companies to receive immediate cash for their invoices instead of waiting for the customer to pay.<\/p>\n

By using factoring<\/a>, companies can improve their cash flow and shorten their DSO. This is because the factoring company becomes responsible for collecting payments, leading to faster access to cash. This allows business owners to focus on their core business without worrying about long outstanding invoices.<\/p>\n

Wat is DSO?<\/h2>\nDSO is een belangrijke financi\u00eble maatstaf die aangeeft hoe lang het gemiddeld duurt voordat je bedrijf betalingen ontvangt voor de verkoop van producten of diensten. Met andere woorden, het meet de tijd die verstrijkt tussen het moment van verkoop en het moment waarop de betaling daadwerkelijk wordt ontvangen. Een lage DSO geeft aan dat je klanten over het algemeen snel betalen, wat positieve gevolgen heeft voor je cashflow en liquiditeit<\/a>.\n

Waarom is DSO belangrijk?<\/h2>\nEen effici\u00ebnte cashflow is van vitaal belang voor het succes van elk bedrijf. Hoe sneller je openstaande facturen worden betaald, des te meer financi\u00eble ruimte je hebt om te investeren in groei, operationele kosten te dekken en kansen te benutten. Een hoog DSO kan wijzen op problemen zoals trage betalingen, onvoldoende debiteurenbeheer<\/a>, of zelfs financi\u00eble moeilijkheden bij je klanten.\n

Hoe bereken je DSO?<\/h2>\nDe berekening van DSO is vrij eenvoudig. Volg deze stappen:\n\nBepaal je gemiddelde debiteurensaldo; dit is het totale bedrag aan openstaande facturen over een bepaalde periode, bijvoorbeeld een maand.\n\nDeel het gemiddelde debiteurensaldo door de omzet. Dit geeft je de gemiddelde DSO. Je doet dit op de volgende manier: (gemiddelde debiteurensaldo \/ totale omzet) x aantal dagen in de periode.\n\nBijvoorbeeld, als je gemiddelde debiteurensaldo over een maand \u20ac10.000 is en je totale omzet in die maand is \u20ac50.000, en er zijn 30 dagen in die maand, dan is je DSO: (\u20ac10,000 \/ \u20ac50,000) x 30 = 6 dagen.\n

DSO en Factoring<\/h2>\nFactoring is een financieringsoptie waarbij een bedrijf zijn openstaande facturen verkoopt<\/a> aan een factoringmaatschappij - in dit geval Factris - waarna je op korte termijn de waarde van de factuur uitbetaald krijgt. Dit stelt bedrijven in staat om onmiddellijk contant geld te ontvangen voor hun facturen in plaats van te wachten tot de klant betaalt.\n\nDoor factoring<\/a> in te zetten, kunnen bedrijven hun cashflow verbeteren en hun DSO verkorten.
